5 AM Walk

As we continue adjusting from these times, equipping ourselves better by looking after our mental and physical health is becoming more of a focus.

One common thread between the different approaches and available advice is creating a routine that is easy to follow and start your day early.

One habit I found interesting to try out in this routine is a 5 AM walk which combines the benefits of waking up early a daily exercise.

Robin Sharma, the author of the “5 AM Club”, says “Winning starts at your beginning. And your first hours are where the great heroes are made. Own your mornings and you’ll master your life. “.

Walking in the morning is a great way to start a day, by ticking off the morning exercise, I found myself having more energy and start the day on a positive note.

The benefits of a daily walk vary from promoting better sleep, and healthier skin and hair, to reducing risks of Dementia And Alzheimer, boosting the immune system and reducing fatigue and stress.

As in life, there are different walks of walks as the purpose of your morning walk determines which approach is more suited for you, one method I found interesting is the following

  • Warm-up for the first 10 mins

  • Set as a start point to your morning walk

  • Walk as fast as you can for 10mins in any direction

  • Note how far you went and walk back in your regular pace

  • Next time start for the same point and see if you can get faster

Measuring against previous walks provides positive feedback on your progress.

What daily routines have helped you during these times?
